What are the differences between a leader and a follower?
Let's consider what this really means with Oxford dictionary meanings:
A leader; a person who leads or commands a group, organisation, or country.
A follower; a person who supports and admires a particular person or set of ideas.
So a follower needs to be led otherwise what is he/she following? Therefore items need to be brought to them to digest, understand and work on. Generally speaking he or she will need timescales, deliverable dates a safe environment and comfort that he or she will be rewarded for their role and tasks.
A leader is completely different. They will be;
Have new ideas and various subjects, perhaps even a way of looking at the same thing differently. But he or she will have the ability to be able to do just that. It is not a question of doing the same thing, as that will always produce the same results.
It is not a question of being risky it is a question of measuring the upside of the decision and ensuring that the percentage of the outcome will be favourable and making it happen as such. It is very easy to defer the decision and shy away from change. Don't...
Be Optimistic that the job can be done with ease
A good leader will generally remain very optimistic that everything is possible and make it happen. A leader should ensure that everyone joins the journey with him/her. When they look over their shoulder the followers should be following and buying into the leaders ideas.

And above all be visionary, accept and deliver change
If you have the vision implement it. Don't wait for others. The vision you have is the one that many will wish to follow. All you need is the end game, the tools to get there and then the drive to make sure that you do.
